Born in Acapulco, Mexico, Dr. Joel Juarez-Uribe graduated with his Medical Degree from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) with Honors in Mexico City. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the Long School of Medicine University of Texas at San Antonio. Finally, Dr. Juarez completed his cardiology fellowship at Emory University where he trained under J. Willis Hurst, M.D. - one of the fathers of American cardiology, author of “The Heart” the most widely used cardiology textbook in the world, and former cardiologist of former US President Lyndon B. Johnson.

When Dr. Juarez-Uribe established his practice in Chula Vista in 1982, he was the third cardiologist to arrive. He began to work at Alvarado Hospital, Chula Vista Community Hospital (today Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center), and Paradise Valley Hospital where he served as Chief of Cardiology for 10 years. In 1987, Dr. Juarez-Uribe co-founded the Cardiac Catheterization Lab at Sharp Chula Vista, where he has served as Chairman of Cardiology and Co-Chairmen of Cardiac Surgery. 

As a primary care physician, Dr. Juarez-Uribe's clinic focuses on providing his patients the best quality care and personalized treatments for adults 21+. He lives in Bonita with his wife Maryzella Juarez.
